How does it work? And other common questions…
-
We start where you are.
The free 30 minute call is a time for us to get to know each other. For me to understand more about where you’re at and where you’d like to get to, and for you to get a sense of me and my vibe and whether we’d be a good fit.
I’ll also explain a bit about how financial coaching works - what it is and what it isn’t - and answer any questions you have.
If, on or after the call, you decide you’d like to go ahead, we’ll agree an approach and cadence to start with and then we can flex as we go to suit what you need.
Sessions are one-to-one, online by video call, and £150 each. They usually last 60 minutes, and your first one may run up to 90, so we have time to get the full picture (at no additional charge).

A financial coach is there to support and empower you to make decisions about your money. You’re in the driving seat at all times, with the coach there to help you work through your thoughts, emotions and questions in a calm, non-judgemental, supportive space.
A coach helps you understand your options, get clear on what you want, and build the habits and confidence to make decisions and take action. Where appropriate, this can include exploring your current beliefs around money, your behaviours and environment so you can spot the things that might be getting in your way and the things that could support your progress against your goals.
A financial coach shares their financial expertise and experience to support your understanding and plug any gaps (e.g. around tax on savings, or the difference between Pensions and ISAs, etc), but won’t recommend or sell you specific financial products.
A financial adviser is regulated by the FCA and can recommend specific products, like a particular pension or investment fund. They typically then take over the management of your investments and usually charge an upfront and an ongoing fee (often calculated as a percentage of your investments) for doing so. They may require you to have a certain level of wealth before they’ll accept you as a client.

Not at all. Whether you're paying off debt, sitting on savings you're not sure what to do with, or somewhere in between, we start wherever you are.
What’s needed is the readiness and desire to take control.

When I say coaching on how to get ‘good’ with money, I put it like that because there is no singular definition on what that looks like.
It’s only good to the extent it’s good for you and your goals.
I was thinking recently it’s a bit like the TV programme “Location, Location, Location” - there is no singular definition of a ‘good’ house. Every person has their own vision, their own resources, their own criteria. So coaching is all about helping you get ‘good’ with money, in whatever way you want that to be for you.
(I’m the Kirstie and Phil in the metaphor!)

£150 per session. Sessions normally last up to 60 minutes.
The first session may take up to 90 minutes so I get the full picture - there’s no extra charge for the additional time.
When we speak, we’ll agree an approach and cadence to start with and then we can flex as we go to suit what you need.
-
No. No contracts, no tie-ins.
After our initial call, we’ll agree an approach and cadence that works for you and we can flex that as we go depending on what you need.
-
No, never, unless you'd like my help making sense of them. We can work with the headline figures you give me.
-
Absolutely. I'm self-employed, so I know the joys of irregular income, working out what to pay yourself, and sorting a pension and benefits when there's no employer doing it for you.
-
Yes. I can work with couples to help you understand each other's money views, get on the same page, and build a plan that works for you both.

Thanks for asking! Mint choc-chip - the king of all flavours.
Money isn’t everything.
But it is essential.
Setting it up brilliantly can be the key to so much. I’m here so you don’t have to figure it out alone: an informed, objective friend sitting alongside you, helping you work out your money situation and take action towards your goals. You’ll find the answers. I’ll help.
